Reading your last post, I wanted to call out some of the better NOLA blogs writing either exclusively or primarily about Katrina. You may not wish to read them now, for obvious reasons. One of the better bloggers, SOS Katrina, is shutting down because the writer just can't take it any more. The rest of us just keep plugging on. If you can't bring yourself to read this sort of thing regularly, that's understandable. I would hope some of your fans who've come to care about NOLA through your work might find them interesting and important.
Metroblogs most people who go looking for New Orleans blogs will find. da' Po Blog in particular is making a real impact, and has been harping on the whole federal money issue long before the T-P picked it up. People Get Ready is very overtly political and one of the best a well. Mine is Wet Bank Guide, I read da Po Blog, Polimom and Right Hand Thief every day to make sure I haven't missed something in the news. I read Traveling Mermaid to help me recover from reading the news.
Since the first is mine, it will look like shameless self promotion. I hope that be posting these, some of your distant readers who have been hearing about New Orleans through you will get an even better pictures of the worst, and best, of what happening in NOLA post-K.
If this is too far off-topic, you can delete it or drop my a line and I will.

thanks so much!
I'm a NOLA native who plans to write her dissertation on the more revealing, informative, and honest stories that have occured on blogs during and since Katrina. Thank you for this list. Some you might want to add are http://trinalovesneworleans.blogspot.coFebruary 19 2006, 00:15:36 UTC 6 years ago
Good as added
I loved the Tony Green painting of what I take to be St. Anne's or one of the other Marigny bands. If you're writing your disertation, drop me an email via the blog and I can send one out to about a half-dozen of the frequent bloggers who I'm in direct contact with to see if they'd like to talk to you. I'm an expat, so to some extent my own experience might not be what I'm looking for. I'm planning a first drink on me meetup of some of those folks when I'm home Mardi Gras week as well.
You should probably talk to the fellow over at nola.us/Interdictor, who's an interesting fellow (in the may-you-live-in-interesting-times sense. However he's pretty famous at this point in the blogosphere (famous in the mentioned in Wired sense) because he was up blogging through it all (in his Enron-built and hardened hosting center). I've heard he's a domain nabber and other unpleasant things, but the Survivial of New Orleans Blog was the real deal the first of September last.
Good luck.

On the Liars: I want to armor the levees with the[ir] skulls...
If you think you're pissed, you should read Gulf Sail's latest, especially the bit at the bottom. As for the lies and the liars, I found myself on the same topic earlier this week, and came to this conclusion:

testing. testing
This is the first time I've ever done this, just wanted to see how it worked before I go and type a huge entry only to have it fuck up at the end.February 22 2006, 00:02:40 UTC 6 years ago

I don't live in NOLA, but I've got some good references from po-blog and YRHT and a couple of the others.

I don't live there either (at least not yet)
and yes, your blog should be on that list. Blog links cheerfully traded. I'll add you to my own gutter (from when that list came) tonight.March 17 2006, 15:26:43 UTC 6 years ago

Figures that the one time Ipimp my blog, Blogger decides to shit the bed for three days. !@#$%$%March 17 2006, 18:21:36 UTC 6 years ago
The Java gods were angry my friend
I had a most excellent St. P day post all queueed up and ready to go, and I could not get Blogger to play nice. I think I'm going to have to settle into a paid account somewhere. And, hey, pimping your blog is how you get links and build traffic. I've spent a immense amount of time on Wet Bank Guide, and I try anyway I can t build readership (beyond trying to write things worth reading).

i feel for yalls house.... there is some weird survivors guilt going on in my head every time i have to tell people yah we was lucky we only had to rewire our house the water stopped 6" from our floor boards.
when i cant even bring myself to conversate about all the people who either died in my neighborhood or the old folks who were my neighbors who had their deaths sped up and died after the storm.
i get pissed or laugh or cry but ussually i just go take a bath in da river da' nile.
im saving my strenght for june thru oct. because i know that that is going to be the biggest test of who can handle the whole delayed stress syndrome with out actually going malvo.....
the reason im writting you is twofold..
i just finished liquor and i am mad at myself that i was so excited by it that i immediatly lent it out. i cant wait to read it again............
the scene you wrote about the deconstructed gumbo made a beer come out of my nose........ and the fact that you can make emmerial seem like a symphthetic charactor just proves in my mind that you are a great writter. i allways hated the way he treated that building on chartres and toulouse but because of your book i feel a need to give him some slack and get more details..............
the other reason i am writing this is i am worried about you.....not in that summer camp kumbahyah kinda way but just the fact that you are beat down just like me and my neighbors out here in the eighth ward................i just wish to you and every body in my ward and all the wards one pure moment of clarity and an easy place to vote as well as no law suits as we place our vote weither from out of state or in town at a new polling station please al ader and k.w.b. let this election happpen.
oh well like i said im new to this blog scene and dont even know if i am posting this correctly.
